It’s Tiny
So, I knew this was small, but I did not know that it is truly tiny! This could be Ken and Barbie’s marking gauge. Lol.But with that said, it is relatively sturdy, and has VERY SHARP points, so leaves very thin lines. It fits well in my ham fisted bear paws, and I enjoy using it. You do have to make sure to lay this marking gauge way down, like close to flat when marking your lines, or the sharp points will scratch your leather, rather than leaving fine little indents. This is somewhat true of most gauges, they need to be angled down somewhat, but far more so with this gauge as the points are so sharp, almost like glover’s needles.We have not used our bulky and inconsistent Tandy calipers since this arrived. We’d definitely recommend this marking gauge, and if we need another marking gauge for an additional work station, we’d buy this marking gauge again.Make sure you get the best price you can on this gauge, as they’re sold everywhere, and some high end online leather tool retailers sell this same exact gauge but at several times the price. Shame on them, and shame on their customers who have so much money they can throw it away.ONE thing I’d personally like changed about this tool, and this is a small point (no pun intended) – its measurement is in commie units, I mean, metric units, I wish it were in Imperial, as every other tool we have purchased and use in the shop is in Imperial. If my partner asks what the stitch margin is on a particular product, and I check our pattern and it says 3/16’ths, well… mm’s on this marking gauge don’t help, though you can take the extra step and measure the width of the points off an Imperial ruler.We’re more comfortable with a logarithmic scale that doubles and halves, again and again, more easily, and is more in proportion to the human body (as all of our leather goods are for humans and other animals around our scale), rather than a linear scale that is based on the distance traveled by light in a vacuum over an imperceptibly infinitesimal small amount of time… and now that we know we’re bobbling along in a sea of gravitational waves that are constantly contracting and expanding space and time, how can a meter hold to any objective standard when the two concepts it is based upon, space and time are elastic and are constantly stretching and contracting? Anyway, just personal preference, and it is a small issue with this tool!

It is a nice little tool but mine both of the points are turned in 1/16 of an inch and because of that i can only scribe in 1 direction

The tips need to be hardenedNice product But the tips need to be hardened they tend to bend out of shape when you transfer a measurement in drag it across a piece of layout dye blued steel.
