Was ok for what I needed it for ..patched a few spots of asphalt in my driveway but the handle is junk it begins to bend after using it for 10 minutes. Iâll be replacing it with an actual oak handle

Works Okay for Small Jobs
The steel plate compacts soil and gravel evenly, and the long handle is comfortable to grip. It was easy to assemble. The handle feels a bit flimsy for such a heavy head, and Iâm not sure how it will hold up with frequent use. It works fine for lighter home projects, but for heavy-duty or daily use, it may not be the best option. Overall, decent value, but with some durability concerns.

Donât expect compaction (soil densification) from this tamper tool.
This is a âtamperâ NOT a compactor! As a geotechnical engineer I know what it takes to effectively densify soils. It takes a large âimpactâ force: which is repeated heavy force at a high rate ( like 80-100 hits per minute) and it is simply impossible to achieve the required âimpactâ force with hand-powered tools. You get denser soils by pounding down with the end of a 2×4 than this tool! A rented âJumping-Jackâ gas-powered tamper is more effective than this tool.But⦠this does stand up by itself after you let go of it! All my shovels fall over and I have to bend over to pick them up.
