Best Learner Bike Ever!
Bought for my 8 year old who was very nervous about learning to ride a bike! She was using one of those princess bikes she’s had forever that we took the training wheels off of, but we could just tell that she needed something lighter and that gave her a boost of confidence! She learned to ride it in less than a WEEK ! The pedals come off in just a click and after 3 days of the balance bike, pedaling took prob an hour between two days to learn! Get it!!! I looked at other brands more expensive ones (G—-u know the one) but this one is top notch a beautiful! My daughter is in the smaller end (48in and about 45pds) and this was perfect for her and has room to grow! Thanks royal baby!

Good bike but I expected better
This is a good solidly built bike. It is made out of steel tubes and features both hand brake for the front wheel and coaster breaks for the back wheel. It comes unassembled and well packaged. The assembly is trivial. The bike also comes with all the bells (literally) and whistles (figuratively). There’s the bell, as well as the reflectors. Finally, the feature why most people would get it is the swap-able nature of the pedals which start out as stubs for a balance bike – they don’t need to turn, so a child can totally rest their legs on them while balancing – and eventually can convert to a full fledged pedals with literally a push of a button. So far so great. It’s definitely nowhere near Huffy or other such brands you’d get at the big box stores. However, I expected better quality from a premium bike such as this. Here are the things that I think should’ve been better:1. The spokes on the wheels are not adjusted so the wheels wobble, especially the front wheel.2. The back wheel has a fair amount of resistance. It stops within 3 seconds after you spin it. I think it’s been put on way too tightly. I might mess with this later to loosen it out a bit so it’s quite as hard for the child to ride. Interestingly, the front wheel is mounted without such issues.3. Caliper brakes bracket (the brakes the brake handle connects to) feels very flimsy. I’m talking about the bracket itself. The brakes are working fine, but the bracket literally moves as the brakes catch. I’ve seen plenty of caliper and v-brakes on different bikes but never seen this kind of behavior. I find this behavior concerning and frankly don’t know what that means for the durability. Still, because of the coaster brakes at the back, there’s redundancy, so it’s not that terrible.

Great quality. Two bikes in one
The ease of assembly was true. I’m not the tool proficient parent and I found it straightforward. The vintage style look is sweet. This is the third balance bike I’ve bought over the years and it’s also by far the cutest. The vintage style look is adorable. It seems solid to me. The brakes are responsive. For such a little bike, it’s heavier than I imagined it would be. Thankfully it’s small, so I have no problem throwing it in the trunk. What I love best is the flexible nature and ease of transforming it from a push bike, to a pedal bike. With my first baby, I ended up getting two used push bikes. The first one fell apart. The other worked (it was a different Royal Baby bike. It didn’t transition like this one though). So I of course needed a new pedal bike. But not before my youngest wanted a bike too, so bought a third balance bike. Ugh!The transitionable nature of this bike will save me from having to purchase that second bike is short order. The value for that alone is great. I‘ve been pleased with both Royal Baby bikes. Of course I made room in the garage before planning to have another baby. When I sold my first Royal baby bike, it felt like it was the hottest item for sale in my neighborhood that day. There was a ton of interest.

Impressive
Really impressed with this bike. It’s sturdy, well-designed, and clever in how it transitions from a balance bike to a pedal bike. The conversion only takes a few minutes (no tools needed), which makes it ideal for kids who are still learning balance but ready to move up soon. It’s noticeably lighter than most kids’ bikes so it’s easy for younger kids to handle and maneuver. The adjustable seat and handlebars give it a good range for growth, and the lower frame lets them keep their feet flat on the ground, making it less scary. The retro design is adorable, love the classic lines. Everything feels solid and safe, not cheap or wobbly.

A versatile bike that can be used for 5+ years
Price at time of review: $279.99Quality: 5/5Value: 5/5This is a multi purpose bike! We started out using this as a balance bike with no pedals and it works perfect. The conversion was also easy, and we can even go back to a balance bike fairly quickly. The size is just right for the age group listed in the description. The color is also good for boys and girls, no more arguing over a girly bike color. The pedals are quality and easy to install. The brakes work well, if not too well. The weight of this is a bit heavier than I was expecting for the age group but so far that hasn’t caused any issues. Overall a great starter bike that turns into a full usable bike for older kids. Highly recommend for a versatile bike option!
