   Surprisingly good boring head!
   I didnt know what to expect with this head, but I have been pleasantly surprised. The adjustment is really smooth, and the dovetails are tight. There is about 10 thou backlash in the dial, which is no problem really. I needed to bore three through holes in a 2″ bar, one at 1.000 +0/-.005, 1.003 +0/-.005, and 1.250 +/- .005. The head did it with no trouble at all. I rough drilled the holes with a 7/8 twist drill then finished with the boring head. Just for grins I used the thin bar and kept my cut no more that .010 – .015 at a time and feed at .003 per rev. Probably could have cut a little faster, but I wanted to see. The finish was good, not great. Surprising very little chatter. The stiffer bars may have done better. But all in all I’m very pleased with the head. also, I am a hobby machinest, not a professional metal worker. EE by trade, but always very interested in ME too.

   Best value boring head in the universe
   Giving 5 starts but there is no cheaper option for a boring head anywhere in the world. I drilled out a whole to the largest size drill bit I have then used this to open up to the exact size. Comes with all the allen keys one could want along with the special torqs keys for the inserts. Did the job for very little money and super quick shipping. Includes the blow molded case. Used in a Grizzly G0758 milling machine to bore out a case aluminum pully to inch.

   Is there more than one r8 spindle???
   Ordered this boring head. Looks good quality when I unboxed it. The r8 adapter will simply not fully seat into the r8 taper of my precision Matthews mill. Ok, send it back and received a replacement. Same deal, will not seat into the r8 taper of my mill.All of my r8 collets, drill chuck, shell mills, end mill holders slide into the r8 taper of the mill and seat completely.

   Pleasantly surprised for the price point nice solid boring bar set for the home shop
   True running boring bars chucked. each one in a r8 collett very little run out if anyCutters mount solid in the bar seats , nice and sharp and proper relief angles for a smooth cut at least on 1018 ran 10 consecutive counterbores for 12 mm cap head bolts took 10000 each pass no problems. Would buy again if my set dissapeared

   The boring bar works excellent but it is next to impossible to find replacement inserts
