Accurate and Useful
This Products Engineering Corporation (Torrance, CA) 6-inch double square thankfully replaces my hardware-store 6-inch combination square. The PEC blade alignment is comparable to my Starrett combination square; the blade markings are nicely etched on a satin gray finish that are easy to read, and the ends are smoothly finished for scribing with a mechanical pencil. And the body is exactly one-inch wide, the usefulness of which might become apparent sometime. See photos. I would expect that a finely machined tool of this type would cost more.

Good quality Double Square.
I like the 6″ version better than the 4″ square. The 6″ sits in my hand better than the 4, which I have dropped on occasion. I would prefer to have the sliding bit larger, scaling up to 3″. I find the locking nob a bit hard to tighten, due to its size, friction and my arthritis. Both the 4 and 6 double squares I received are dead square as long as you get the knob fully tight.

Well made mini double square
Double squares and combination squares are some of my favorite measuring tools. Squares are always useful, but the moving head on this type of tool gives you a few additional ways to use it that are extremely valuable. You can use it somewhat like calipers by moving the head up against a surface and using it to help read the scale, you can use it to set a measurement for marking or cutting by sliding the head to the marked measurement, or my favorite: Simply transferring a measurement by first moving the head to measure one object, locking it in place, then using the tool to mark another object.This little 6″ square is a nice addition to my collection. It’s not cheap, but the precision is there as far as I can validate. The blade is nice and strait, and it is marked out in 8ths, 16ths, 32nds, and 64ths. The head moves smoothly and locks in place very well. The tool is machined very nicely, and has a good amount of heft to it. This feels like a very high quality professional example that would be at home in any machine shop or woodworking shop for use on fine details.I just used this last night to transfer the measurement of how far a stair nose was sticking out onto a jig I was building to bend vinyl planks I want to install on my stairs. This is the sort of measurement that’s usually a little hard to take because in the real world something like a stair tread is never installed perfectly to some really clean measurement and tolerance. But with this kind of tool, you not only can read the measurement, but you can basically ignore the numbers and just transfer the dimension from one object to another resulting in a perfect fit.

Better options out there
Didnât hold up past 3 days of use on a job site. Save your money and invest in a better brand. Also out of the box the âsquare â was not square and requires a little adjusting. Not worth the money in my book

Great double square for woodworking
I’ve been using my dad’s old combination square for as long as I can remember. It does the job, but it leaves something to be desired when I need precision. This tool is very precise. It’s as close to 90 degrees as I could measure. It has a nice heft and feels very high quality in my hand. It’s perfect to use with a marking knife to transfer measurements or just mark a square cut line. I also appreciate that the tool is made in the USA.

Well built!
Well built and american made! Love it!It’s true to it’s edge and square-ness, so very accurate.It’s pretty robust and durable so you don’t have to baby it. I always do with my precision instruments anyways, but you don’t have to worry about it with these at least.I find it really easy to use as most levels and squares are if you’ve used them before.Mine showed up a little dirty, but after a quick wipe down and a few blasts of air, it was like new.

Great little square
I like this square a lot. As I suspect is true of most long time woodworkers, I have many squares and for the most part they are all interchangeable. However, I do particularly like this square. The incremental measurements are somewhat more fine than on many squares. It is accurate to with 1/64th of an inch which is probably better than my eyes can even see. Nonetheless, I strive for perfection in my measurements and this detail helps me get closer to my goal. I ordered the 6â blade and I like the size. It is long enough to be functional for many jobs, but small enough to slip it in my pocket when Iâm between measurements. The blade locks in at as near as I can tell a perfect right angle so cross cuts using this square as a guide are true and accurate. The thumb screw is a bit smaller than I would prefer and I have accidentally tightened it to the point that it was hard to unscrew. However that is probably more about my age than the tool. The markings on the blade are easy to read. The relatively wide square base makes this a very helpful tool when setting up machines. I use it to confirm that my blade is square to the table and that my miter gauge is square to the fence. While the price of this tool is a bit steep, I think it is well made and probably worth the price.
