   Better than kreg
   I bought a name brand pocket hole jig to build a cabinet and it was cheap plastic garbage that i returned. Not only was this cheaper and made of metal, the design is superior to the name brand one because of the integrated clamp base. The kreg jig was a flat mount jig with a separate clamp that operated more on wishes than sound mechanics. We are by no means professionals, just homeowners who enjoy a DIY, and this tool was the right product for us.

   Quick Joinery
   Pocket hole joinery is new to me and I’m not sure I’d want to use it on any fine furniture type project, but for just knocking together projects quickly it seems like a useful method.This kit is a little limited in the types of joints it can make, but I found it worked well enough for those within its range. I have included photos of a test joint I made out of scrap pieces.I was surprised at how strong the joint was. I think it would hold up fine in normal use.I did note that my first drilling created a small pile of aluminum shavings along with the sawdust. I think this was just a break-in phenomenon, but if it persisted over time the drill bit sleeve might become a bit sloppy.

   It’s just okay…
   It’s quite annoying to use. You have to find a small enough clamp to clamp it down to the work bench/table so it doesn’t slide around when you go to drill. Every time I used it, shards of metal would come off of the piece which makes me think the drill bit was too big? But you get what you pay for, I suppose. That’s why the main brand competitor costs so much–better quality. It made the pocket holes just fine, you just need to spend some more time cranking it down.

   Great, inexpensive, and portable jig!
   I’ve owned a larger name brand jig for years. That one is mounted to a board which can be clamped down on a table for stability. Often, I do smaller projects away from home and wanted a jig that would easily fit in my toolbox without having to load too much in my truck. This Pocket Hole Jig Kit from TBVHOMM fit the bill perfectly!Pros:The jig is made of high quality coated aluminum. The scale is engraved and easy to read. The adjustment knobs for the scale are easy to turn, even for my arthritic fingers. The clamp, although made of plastic, was still easy to turn and definitely secured the wood when testing the jig. There are two drill bits and two depth collars included. (Unfortunately, I was so eager to try the jig out that I forgot the collar and nicked the finish on the jig.) The driver bit that is included is magnetic.The price seems very reasonable for the quality of the jig.Cons:The 20 included screws don’t have the quality feel of the name brand product. Fortunately, 20 screws won’t last long and I’ll have to go out and buy more anyway – this was not a deal breaker for me.

   This pocket hole Jig Kit is great for building cabinets and all sorts of things around the house. I am a novice to building things. This tool was easy to use and seems like it is pretty durable and should last a long time with normal use. The design is pretty intuitive and works well.
