Produces a Good Scribe
I bought these for use doing trim work to try them out. They work fine and allow you to do an accurate transfer of an irregular surface onto whatever material you are trying to mate another piece. This kit comes with a mechanical pencil for use but I’ve found that the will also fit a Pica pencil. The center section slides down and up the length of the bar and contains measurements allow you to set the depth of the scribe from the irregular surface. The locking mechanism that holds the pencil as well as the sliding bar is solid and does not tend to move in use which would cause a failure in constructing the scribed pattern. There is also a push button that sets a point into the wood allowing the scribe to rotate around the center for circle generations. The only problem I can see is if you attempt to use this in a restricted space where the size of the bar will not allow you to hold the bar perpendicular to the irregular surface.

Nice writing utensil for carpentry or flooring. The scribing guide isnât that useful.
The actual writing utensil is nice. The plastic guide isnât very helpful because you either canât scribe close enough to what you want or you canât get far enough away.I didnât try the circular guide.
