Accurate and Easy-to-Use Moisture Meter!
The Klein Tools ET140 Pinless Moisture Meter is a great tool that works well in detecting moistures non-destructively. It’s very easy to use, quick readings, accurate for drywall and other materials. Moreover, the pinless part is huge with regard to not damaging anything while testing. Light, portable, typical of Klein Tools’ quality—this has made home inspections or DIY projects so much smarter; a tool really worth 5 stars!

Super easy to use
We rented out our house for the last 15 years while I was overseas. I recently remodeled the bathrooms, recently the one bathroom always smells damp. The last thing I wanted to do was tear up the bathroom again. I decided to try this moisture detector. It came fast, had a good price and is really easy to use. But I kept wondering if it is actually accurate.I did a video that shows everything below.I decided to do some tests with it. It has 2 meters, one shows you the percent of moisture and the other is a green to red/dry to wet moisture indicator. It also has four different modes; drywall, masonry, hardwood and softwood.First I set it on the drywall mode and tried it out on my wall. The moisture indicator didn’t register at all and it showed anywhere from 1% to 5%. This seemed like quite a range and had me wondering if 5% was good or bad. I knew I needed to test a couple of scenarios. I got a piece of scrap drywall and filled a bowl with water. I put the drywall over the bowl of water, this gave me a reading that was less than 1% and still didn’t register on the moisture indicator. This had me thinking maybe a 5% reading is bad. But, I am willing to try anything before I tear into the drywall to find out there is no moisture.Next, I poured a small pool of water on the floor and laid the drywall right on top of it. With the meter on the drywall which is sitting on the pool of water, it gave me a 6% reading but still didn’t register on the moisture indicator. Again, now I am really starting to think I may be tearing into some walls.At this point my drywall is wet and I need to clean up the water I dumped on the floor. I soaked the water up with the drywall piece then tested it again. I put the moisture meter directly on the part that was in the water. It now showed 25% and 2 green bars on the moisture indicator. I didn’t let the drywall really soak up the water and it read at 25%.I now see that a low reading isn’t really detecting any water damage maybe just a little bit of moisture. At 25% there is definitely some moisture or water. I would recommend this to anyone who thinks they may have a water leak prior to cutting into the floor or drywall.Feel free to check out my video.

Simple to use and seems accurate
It is very simple to use. Just turn it on and select the material you are testing. You can select masonry, hardwood, softwood, drywall. Selecting the correct material is important. You can push the hold button to lock a reading incase you are testing an area where you can’t see the display. Screen is large and easy to read and the lights below the screen indicate if moisture reading is high or low based on the material you have the meter set for. It’s a good product in my opinion. Also I had someone test a building for moisture and that is the meter they used and told me they have used for years. That is why I decided to purchase this product. I have several other Klein products and have been happy with all of them.

Accurate and easy to use for quick moisture checks
I’ve been using this Klein moisture meter for checking drywall and wood around the house, and it’s been spot on. It’s simple to use — just place it flat and the reading shows up instantly on the bright display. I like that it scans without leaving pinholes, and it feels sturdy but lightweight in hand. The detection is accurate enough for quick checks, though it does better on flat surfaces than corners. For homeowners or anyone doing inspections, this is a reliable tool that saves time and gives peace of mind.

Easy to use and reliable
I read a lot of reviews that said to go for a more expensive reader if you want better accuracy. I think this is great. The accuracy is pretty spot on, as I’ve compared this reading with multiple others and they all give similar readings. This one is very easy to use and you can quickly switch between the different options for the wood you trying to read or purpose. And the price is not extreme like most.I would highly recommend this product.

Magnificent Tool
It says it reads moisture at 3/4 inches. And if you want to read less deep, you need to put it on a piece of wood that thick…If you want it to read 1/2″ deep into your material, you need to place and slide it on a piece of wood 1/4 ” thick…Also it reads Both soft and Hard woods. Had an estimated done with a tool that costs 4x what this one does and this one found moisture where theirs did not! Found mold in the wall behind sheet rock also. I can not say enough about the value of this tool and its accuracy. Klein does it again!

Seems to be a great moisture meter. I believe it’s accurate and the readings are consistent. Before and after planing shows a difference of .4% which proves this meter was worth the money. It also works great for other materials. Would recommend.

Handhavandet är enklast tänkbara. Stor, ljusstark display med färgåtergivning och få knappar att hålla reda på. Den har stor kontaktyta som jag inbillar mig underlättar fuktmätning. De få negativa aspekterna är att den är svår att fuktmäta hörnor med och att den oftast visar maxresultatet 100%. Det är sällan man får resultat mellan exempelvis 45% och 99%. Antingen blir det ett lågt resultat eller också springer mätaren till max, trots att man bara rör den några centimeter på väggen. Står inget om det i instruktionerna men den mäter också fukt genom laminatgolv. Ytterligare ett plus är att den är billig.
