Chris –
Keep it even while going up and down a cylinder board.
It did what it was meant to do . I checked my cylinder boards for out around this and my big block 427 Chevy.

Simple to use and works well
Good quality bore gauge! Setup for 2 to 6in, you get a set of anvils in weird sizes (presumably maps to some metric value) and everything you need to get this thing going. Gauge is easy to use in the bore and directions for use are included, you simply screw in the correct anvil, get it zeroed in a micrometer to your set value, and you can use the dial indicator while in the bore to confirm the correct size and concentricity.Easy, functional, and effective, this is a pretty solid gauge for the money.

Slow and difficult to use and not very accurate…
This device has a good potential, but the case makes you disassemble it entirely every time it is put away. That coupled with the slight tolerance issues or coming back to true, and the washers being slightly under sized and not marked makes this more of a hassle to use and less accurate than a simple pair of calipers. If the stems were etched and the gauge was more repeatable it would be a much nicer setup. As is you need a micrometer to zero it every time you use it and there is no level so it’s more of a guessing game as far as if you are getting the true bore diameter. If you are dealing with pipes or tubes that don’t need tight precision, then this may work for ya, but if you are using it for an engine machine shop, you will get slowed way down and more than likely mess up the measurement…
