    Great Hose Reel Cart
I recently purchased this Hose Reel Cart to help manage my garden hose, and overall, it’s been a great addition to my outdoor setup. Here’s a breakdown of my experience based on key factors:FunctionThe cart performs its job well. It holds up to 250 feet of standard garden hose without any tangling or kinking issues. The reel turns smoothly, making it easy to wind and unwind the hose without a struggle. The integrated leader hose and easy-access connections make attaching and detaching the main hose quick and leak-free. The handle gives you good torque when winding, and the cart stays stable during use.DesignAesthetically, the cart is well-designed. It has a clean, functional look that doesn’t detract from your yard or garden space. The large wheels are a great touch they roll well over uneven terrain, gravel, and grass. The upright handle and wide base make it easy to maneuver, and the overall footprint isn’t too bulky, so it fits nicely in the shed or garage.Build QualityThis is where the cart really shines. The frame is made of heavy-duty steel with a weather-resistant coating, which gives it a sturdy, durable feel. I’ve used it in different weather conditions, and it’s held up without any signs of rust or wear. The reel and connections feel solid, not flimsy plastic like some lower-end models. I expect it to last many seasons.Ease of AssemblyAssembly was straightforward. It came with clear instructions and all the necessary hardware. It took me about 10 minutes to put it together with basic tools. The parts fit well, and nothing felt cheap or misaligned. Just be sure to tighten everything securely, especially the axle for the wheels.⸻Final Thoughts:If you’re looking for a reliable and well-constructed hose reel cart that can handle a long hose and still be easy to move around, this is a solid choice. It’s a bit more expensive than plastic models, but the quality justifies the price.

Poor quality control and product support, rusted and non-functional after only months of use.
Bought 2 of these; one works fine. On the other, one set of axel hubs were 3/16″ too far apart so the wheels wouldn’t stay on. I contacted the company, Giraffe Tools, who acknowledged receipt of my request for a help but never responded to me. I ended up having to grind the axel hub down 3/16″, at which point I found another problem – the spring in the spring loaded knob in the axel holding the wheels on had insufficient strength to hold the wheel on – so again, the wheels fell off each time I moved it. So I screwed large plastic wall anchors into the both ends of the axel to hold the springs (and wheels) in place. It works now with all of the modifications I had to make, but for the price it seems like poor quality control and product support to me. Update: November 8, 2025. Now the one working hose reel no longer works because the gear strap has stretched out so much that it won’t wind the wheel. And after less than 6 months of use under mostly drought conditions both hose reels have numerous rusted parts, including nuts rusted onto bolts making them difficult to remove. Very, very poor product, poor support, and the advertisement saying it’s durable and weather resistant – well, you judge by the picture below after less than 6 months of use.

    Handy tool
I use this an and extension piece. Adds 100ft of hose to my 100ft hose in the back of my property. Well built!

    They made it right
First one I received had product defects. The hose connection on the hose reel was bent. Not sure about these axles. They have snap buttons to hold the wheels on. On one axle I could not get both wheels to fit at the same time. I went ahead and requested a new one. The second one was alright; it did not have the defects. I have thought about replacing the 2 axles with some that have threads at each end, with washers and nuts. That would actually be better. But for now I’m going to give this a try as it is.

Giraffe Tools Hose Reel Cart… Stuck with the Hot Potato!
I was looking for a hose container to house a 100′ hose. Due to practically no choices, I opted to try a cart. This cart was the most expensive of all the carts I looked at. I chose it because of the “finish” and because I thought it the wheels looked more substantial than the others. Unfortunately, this is not the case…To begin with, the instructions were not great. The pictures of important parts were small, and were hard to decipher-the screws were labeled but they were not depicted which was which. I spent time changing them around because of this. Absolutely painful! Most all of the moving parts are plastic. See above. I am not thinking these will last over the long term. There are 2 metal polished rods which fit on and into the left/right plastic screw rods. The part which has the hole where the hose is gets threaded though, stinks because the bottom part of it has a groove that rests on the bottom rod. So when you are rolling the hose, it pops off the rod , slides and interferes with reel, stopping it from turning. Extremely Frustrating. So be ready, you will be unable to use this part. The synchronous belt is plastic not heavy rubber , and it definitely will not be for the long term. The screw rod bracket boxes left/right do not snap onto the cart snuggly (one did one didn’t) and the screws they provided for the bracket boxes are too short… 1 bracket I was able to screw tightly but the screws were so short it barley made it. The other side, as I mentioned, did not fit snuggly on the frame, so I will have go to get bigger screws. The wheels are attached by cotter pins which are flimsy-they do not fasten tightly. You know how that will go! The cart is not heavy, so and there are no locks on the wheels, and they roll well, so every time you unwind the hose the cart rolls. I had to bungie tie it to the wall. When you buy items online like this one, no one wants to go through the return process after you battle to assemble it following the crappy instructions that they give you! I don’t know about you but most product assembly experiences absolutely wear me out! So in closing, I’m stuck with the hot potato! I am sure in time, after it breaks it will make a cool garden planter! I hope this review helps!

I love how compact this hose reel cart is. And sturdy. It’s so much easier to handle, and move around, than my old one (not a Giraffe). And, of course, I have to mention the attachment that helps roll the hose back, onto the drum. What a great addition that is. Not fighting with the hose, anymore.Love my Giraffe Hose Reel Cart !

Very sturdy hose reel. The 4 wheels makes it easier to move and balance.
