Sharp and easy to change
This insert was very easy to change. The tip broke off the old one (too deep a cut) and I was a little hesitant based on other reviews Iâd read. But it was a snap. The insert stays sharp for a long time.

Blade Fine, But Installation Impossible
This replaceable blade for my very expensive ($72) Amana 45 degree V-Bit is just fine — but precise installation is essentially impossible. I make miter-fold boxes in wood, which requires cutting a 45 degree V-channel to within .015 inches of the edge of the wood. The point of the V-bit must be very sharp (pointed), and it must be exactly centered in the V-bit body. The installation instructions are childishly simple: “push up and to the left, then tighten the screw.” I’ve been a machinist for 40 years, and I know tools, and after two hours of adjusting, testing, adjusting and testing again, I now have a $98 investment ($72 for the V-bit and $27 for the replacement blade,) that is absolutely worthless. It will not return to the exact adjustment that the original blade had, and the resulting V-groove is not precise enough to use. I love Amana tools, and have had success with every one I have purchased — except this one.

A bit on the expensive side.
Unlike their indexable 4 sided bit, this one seems a bit on the expensive side. The cut and finish is super.
