These work well but I think they are priced too high
I ordered these because I had some old empty plastic cases I wanted to use as organizers for miscellaneous tools. My daughter also wanted to organize a few items in one of the small tool chests she uses to keep camping and bush-crafting tools stored. These foam inserts turned out to be just what we needed for those projects. The foam squares you remove to make space are easier to separate and pull out than earlier batches of foam like this that came in some of the original cases I’m reusing. One thing you should take note of: when you’re removing foam to make spaces for tools and other items, you’re going to have to remove each rectangle of foam completely, from the top to the bottom. So you need another piece of thinner foam to place under the one you’re removing pieces from. That thin piece cushions the bottom of the tool too. If you have tools with different widths or thickness, and you’re trying to get them all into a storage case or cabinet using one piece of this foam, that means some of the tools will sit higher in their spaces than others. The only way to avoid that is to try cutting the foam rectangles somewhere above the bottom of the foam block and that can end up looking very messy, especially when the stored tool or tools are temporarily removed from the case. For my purposes though, these worked just the way they’re intended to work. I think they are priced too high for a foam product.

Exactly what I needed
These are great for creating perfectly shaped spaces for whatever you’re storing. Or, if you need irregularly shaped foam for any need, the pick apart areas make it easy to get just what you need.

A Good Way to Bring New Life to a Used Hard Case
Iâve used pluck foam in several hard cases over the years, and itâs always worked well for me. When buying a new case, you often get the option of no interior, dividers, or pluck foam is usually the most versatile. Good hard cases are expensive whether they come with foam or not, so I often look for quality used cases sold without foam to save some money. That route can be a great value, but it means youâll need to supply your own foam insert and thatâs where a product like this comes in. It includes four 16″x12″x2″ sheets of dense polyethylene foam, each pre-scored so you can tear out custom shapes by hand. No tools required, and you can do it in a minute or two.The foam is high density with a good balance of firmness and shock absorptionâdefinitely better than the generic stuff that comes in a lot of budget cases. Itâs well suited for camera gear, tools, or any delicate item where you want a protective fit. It even comes vacuum-sealed, so storing extras takes up very little room until you need them.If youâve got a case that needs fresh foam or youâre building a new storage setup, this is a cost-effective solution.

Good Pre-Cut Foam Sheet
I found this item to be a good value for the price. In fact, I had trouble finding 16x12x2, 4-packs of pre-cut foam at any other price than these. This item arrived compressed, wrapped in plastic, which was wrapped in plastic, which was wrapped in plastic. Compressed the package measured 15-3/4â x 12â x 1â. When exposed to air the pads expanded, to very close to the listed size, within seconds. Right now, they are slightly wider and longer by about ½â, while being very close to the 2â thickness. I am thinking that with a bit of time they will be spot on in size. The foam has a checkerboard pattern to the cuts, and each individual square remains slightly connected to any adjacent squares. The foam is not stiff or ridged and can be compressed by hand rather easily. The rebound on the foam is near instant, and the foam is rather soft to the touch. The checkerboard cuts go all the way through the foam, so if you want a backing you will need to buy it separately. The individual squares are easy enough to remove but are secure enough that one wonât be falling out on their own. Overall build quality seems more than sufficient for what they are.The color of the foam is very uniform matte black. So far, I have been unable to find any manufacturing defects or damage to the pads. The weight of a single pad came to 6.2oz. on my scale with no squares removed. Each individual square is ½â and the boarder is ½â.Overall, there is not a lot to be said about foam sheets. They do what they say they will do, and at a price that seems average with other foam sheets of this quantity, size, and make.

Decent foam, easy to use but add a base layer under
Bought these to put in some cheap Harbor Freight hard cases and they’ve been pretty useful. The foam arrived vacuum-packed and expanded quickly once I opened it. The pre-cut squares make it easy to pluck out custom shapes for different tools. The foam is softer than I expected, which is good for cushioning and slightly undersizing your cutouts to hold firmly. The 2-inch thickness is a good compromise on tool depths, and is enough to mostly lock things in.The squares are cut all the way through, meaning you have to remove the squares all the way through to the bottom. If you have objects of different heights they don’t all sit at the same level. Would be nice if you could partially remove squares for a more uniform look, like 1″ deep or something. I found that adding a base layer (just one of those cheap anti-fatigue mats cut to case shape) helped a ton, and using a contrasting color helps with visibility.

The dice separate well and hold up. Edge could be thicker.
I’ve been using this foam for a few months now and it seems to be fairly durable. It hasn’t begun to deteriorate and the material or glue that holds the remaining dice in place is still holding well. The two inch thick foam works well for microphones, which is the application I’m using it for. I prefer a .5 cm for better contouring around round objects. However, the .6 cm grid seems to do hold well without too much of a gap. I would also like to have seem more edge padding than .6 cm, probably 1 to 1.5 cm for extra protection.
