Worked Great for Attaching Bottom Plate to Basement Slab
I was impressed with how well these worked for my basement finishing project. I needed something to attach the treated 2×4 bottom plate to my concrete slab. Tapcons never work correctly, and I didn’t want to invest in a powder-actuated nailer for the rare cases I need to attach to concrete. These were almost as easy as a ramset: I just stood on the positioned 2×4 (construction adhesive already applied to underside), drilled through the wood into the concrete with my hammer drill, nailed this through the hole and tightened the nut.I was able to tighten the nut to the point that it and the washer started to sink though the 2×4 and glue squished out from under the board. It held so tight to the concrete that I probably could’ve tightened it until it split though the board and/or stripped out the threads, so it was more than sufficient for hold down. This was in an older (cheap) slab, with areas where it was probably 2-3″ thick at best. I was afraid the fastener would need to bottom-out to latch properly, but I had zero issues with hole depth or anything. I even got lazy and wouldn’t clear out all of the drill dust, and these still held like magic. I’m ordering more now that I know they work for my use, and they’ll be my go-to for concrete/brick anchoring in the future.
