   Worked better than expected
   This product worked better than expected to chamfer damaged threaded ends of automotive half axle shafts. We were then able to easily install the axle nuts on the threaded ends.

   Not bad, but I think they could be better
   ***FULL DISCLOSURE: Item was received for free through the Amazon Vine program in exchange for an unbiased review.***These round rod chamfering bits are a good idea, but I think there’s a few flaws that make them less than ideal.My biggest problem is when testing these, they repeatedly drifted off center; every single one of my tests ended in a lopsided cone with a stick-like protrusion.They also gummed up super easily – I tested them on both pine and oak dowels, and pretty much after each use I had to grab one of my picks and scrape out the compacted sawdust.Finally, the blades were somewhat sharp, but could have been way way sharper, and there’s really no good way to resharpen them by hand.So yeah, okay, but definitely room for improvement.

   Clean up the cut ends of threaded rod quickly and easily.
   What a great solution to cutting threaded rod. I’ve had to cut a long threaded rod into a bunch of shorter pieces to use supporting some plumbing pipe I’m replacing. Previously, I found it to be a big PITA – cutting the rod is easy, but then the threads are buggered up and I had to use a grinder and a file, and a lot of cussing to get the mounting parts to thread onto the rod.This chamfer tool changes everything. I just chucked it up into a 1/2″ drill and it put a nice clean chamfer on the threaded rod in no time. My only caution is not to try holding the drill in one hand and the rod in the other. It’s a recipe for getting hurt (ask me how I know). But, with the rod held in a vise it was easy and safe. A great tool for this task.
