Decent files, but a little crudely made
These are decent files for softer materials, but they are a little crudely made. Specifically, one of my files had a huge sharp burr where the end had been ground to a curved shape – I had to grind off the burr to make the file safely usable and that caused me to subtract a star from the rating. The files are fine otherwise. The two files are identical: the body is 9-3/4 inches long, they are second cut grade (which means they are of intermediate coarseness) with one face being single-cut and the other being double-cut, and they have a rounded handle rather than the more typical tang that would be fitted with a separate handle. I suspect that the unusual handle configuration is to remind the user that they are not to be used for filing steel or other hard metals, but only softer materials like laminate, plastic, and soft metals like aluminum or brass. I filed some aluminum plate with one of the files and it worked well.

    Well Built Files
They put together some very nicely crafted files for this set. The carbon steel is strong (but still designed for soft materials like plastic and wood) and the filing surface cuts nicely and keeps it edges without significant clogging. I don’t like it when files get filled as you work with them and then you have to stop and brush out the grooves. The 10” length is good for me, and I am able to control them well and apply the needed force. The handles could be better, but they are better than some similar files I have used in the past. Overall, I don’t think you can go wrong with these files, and I recommend them.
