    Good Quality – Heavy
I recently received the Wire Cutters Ratchet Cable Wire Cutter and I could not be more satisfied. From the moment I unboxed them, the quality and craftsmanship were immediately apparent. The tool feels solid and well-balanced in the hand, giving a sense of reliability that is essential for both professional and home use. The aluminum handles are lightweight yet durable, which makes extended use much more comfortable compared to heavier, all-steel alternatives. The ratchet mechanism works flawlessly, allowing for smooth, controlled cuts with minimal effort. I tested it on a variety of electrical wires, including aluminum and copper cables up to 240mm², and it handled every one with precision. The cutting edges are incredibly sharp, making clean cuts without fraying or crushing the wire. This is particularly important when working on electrical projects where precision is crucial for safety and functionality. One feature I particularly appreciate is the ergonomic handle design. It provides a secure grip even when hands are sweaty or wearing gloves, which adds an extra layer of safety and control. The ratchet action reduces the strain on the hands, which is noticeable when cutting larger or tougher cables.I have used this tool for professional electrical work as well as for DIY projects at home, and it performs equally well in both settings. It has made cutting large gauge wire effortless, and I no longer struggle with inaccurate or uneven cuts that I experienced with other cutters in the past.Overall, this wire cutter is an exceptional tool for electricians, DIY enthusiasts, and anyone who works with heavy-duty electrical cables. Its combination of durability, precision, ease of use, and ergonomic design makes it an invaluable addition to my toolkit. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and high-performing cable cutter. This product earns a full five stars in my evaluation.

Essential tool to have for cutting large wires. Makes clean cuts.
This tool makes it easy to cut thick wires / cables, and it makes fairly clean cuts. It’s definitely a lot better than nibbling away at a cable with cutting pliers. The tool is pretty simple to operate… just insert the wire to be cut, rotate the cutting blade tight to trap the wire, then start squeezing and releasing the handles until the cut is complete. It doesn’t take very much pressure to make the cut, just a bunch of squeeze and release operations, so the leverage and ratcheting system work well.I’ve included a few pictures of wires I cut with this tool, plus a short video of it in operation so you can gauge the amount it cuts per handle squeeze. The resulting cut surface is fairly clean, although in one case I did get a small piece of insulation caught in the cutters at the end of the cut. When I tried to manually release the cutting blade to pull out the insulation, I found that the release mechanism doesn’t work very well. No matter how hard I pressed on the release bar, it wouldn’t retract the ratchet ramp quite far enough to allow me to open the cutting jaws. So you pretty much have to rotate the blade completely through its cutting arc of travel to get it open again. This could be a problem if the cut stops and you absolutely need to back the blade off to pull the wire out. I don’t foresee a situation where this would be likely to occur as long as you’re cutting relatively soft materials (e.g. copper or aluminum) that these cutters are designed for, but the release mechanism really should work better than it does. The handles are covered with what looks to be a plasti-dip material, so they’re not as thick as they would be with an over-molded material, but it’s still plenty comfortable to use the tool with this thinner plastic. The tool has a latch to lock the handles in the closed position for more compact storage. At the time I ordered my evaluation unit the retail price was just under $20, making it a decent value despite the issue I had with the release mechanism not working properly. It does its primary function well (cutting thick wires), so it’s a good tool to have in my toolbox.
