Brand name is kind of deceptive, but overall, it does its job.
I got this because of the precision tips, which do perform well on smaller electronics, and I think this is a great “backpack” backup kit you can just throw in a bag and have in case the odd task arises. It comes in a nice little carry case, with everything you need except for flux and solder. While I do appreciate a lot of the items in the kit, I have to dock a star for the deceptive choice in brand name. Using “Weller” in the name of another brand in the same field, is in my opinion, an attempt to deceive people into purchasing your product.

    Great budget soldering iron
Good budget soldering kit – highly recommend it! This is a very simple easy to use product, the temp adjustment worked perfectly for me and I was quickly able to start soldering some wire for an automotive project. The extra tips and tools included are good for a beginner kit to have a general purpose setup. The needle nose tweezers are really helpful for positioning small wires or components and made a few things much easier for me. The iron heats up quickly and seemed to maintain temp pretty good. One downside which I am not deducting a star for is it claims to have a 5 minute auto shutoff with no use but it never seemed to work. From a safety standpoint that would be a great feature, but very few of these basic soldering irons offer it so I’m not too upset over it.

Comprehensive and Feature-Rich Soldering Iron Kit
This WellerMan Soldering Iron Kit is a much more complete package for nearly the same cost as other kits that offer only the iron and solder. The ability to choose a specific temperature is incredibly helpful, and the different tips are great for more detailed work. I particularly like that it comes with a vacuum pump, a component often missing from other kits. Additionally, the included stand is more helpful than you might realize, preventing accidental burns to your work surface.

    Great Beginners Set
This kit comes with so much stuff. I have wanted to do Stained glass for quite a while. This kit comes with everything I could need to solder the pieces. I like that the soldering iron has a digital display showing the temperature, that makes it easy to control the heat. I am also grateful it comes with a stand for the soldering iron because I don’t have to find a place for it while it’s hot. I’m very happy with this and with how easy it makes it to keep my tools organized. The wrist strap is a great added bonus too.

    Nice enough, but NO FLUX?
Pretty good outfit for a beginner or the occasional DIYer, but no flux??? Or, is the included solder rosin-cored??When I ordered, I hadn’t noticed that this particular set lacks any flux, and it seems an odd and inconvenient omission. I can’t find any reference to the solder wire including it either, so I guess I’ll just have to try it and see. There are scores of these inexpensive soldering kits available on Amazon, all variations on a theme, having slightly differing assortments of accessories and disparate price points, but all having what is essentially identical irons and tips that look like they all came from the same factory. They do come in varying wattages, however. This 80W model gets plenty hot for handling any job for the size of the tips. These irons seem to be dependable, with consistent temperatures, and adequate build quality, being used as backup irons by professionals, for example. The cords on these irons can be annoying because they are heavy and have an on/off switch that can get in the way, so most seem to use these only for occasional use. The same goes for the flimsy stand with its minute sponge. This kit is nice since it includes a de-soldering pen and tweezers, but the wire stripper is pretty much useless. The case is flimsy too, as you would expect, but serviceable. I don’t bother trying to keep things in place with its elastic straps and instead just throw everything inside loose. To do so, you must disassemble the stand, which is annoying. This particular set is a fair value, but it would be better if it had included some flux. My advice is, shop around to find a kit that meets your needs, knowing that the irons, the interchangeable tips, and the de-soldering pens are good quality but the rest of whatever is included is very flimsy.
