    Measure Once; Cut Once
I’ve never actually used one of these, but I have been wanting to rebuild my deck stairs and I’ve built a lot of shelves. This seems like it would be a big help with making better fitting cuts. It’s a simple tool that doesn’t require much explanation, except to say that it allows you to cut stair and shelving boards for a perfect fit. The angles needed are often not a true 90° and so you use this tool to create a template for your cuts. Just line it up to match what you need and then use it to draw your lines for perfect angles. The screw-on sliders have threaded metal inserts to make them easy to install and remove. It comes with two stops or gauges that adjust for angles with the squares (I do want to note that these did not fit on my previously owned speed squares, though, because they were too thick for the small slots in the stops). When disassembled, it all fits into a nice little case for a small storage footprint. As a jig, it is a little expensive, but it should pay for itself in time saved and better quality work. It’s a very functional tool that I expect to be using for many years to come.

    Great for patterns!
I’m an old school carpenter who us used to my 12-18 framing square to lay out treads and risers, so something like this is a bit more cumbersome for that application than needed. However, this is a very useful tool for paying out the skirts and adding trim elements to existing stairs. While maybe not the intended purpose, with a little creative thinking, this becomes a very useful scribing and transferring tool. I don’t know if I’m going to just assemble it and hang it in the workshop and adjust as needed or if I’m going to keep taking it apart and putting it in the case. I have a feeling if i do the latter, I will be inviting the loss of some of the smaller parts.

    Compact and Useful
What an interesting tool! We got this to help with adjusting the size of stair treads running up our curvy stairs, and help it did. It gave us just the right angles at which to cut the treads for more functional installation. It was a little challenging to figure out – did not come with instructions that we could tell – but after referring to the listing again, we figured it out. I think this will be a handy tool to have around and imagine it’ll last a long time. Love the carrying case to keep it clean and compact.

Stair tread jig that can be used for numerous other purposes, too.
I’ve never used one of these, but we are getting ready to redo our staircase and this will definitely come in handy. It includes a carrying/storage case and the metal bars seem to be decent quality, but thin so they could bend if you aren’t careful. Assembly is pretty easy and I can imagine using this for numerous other purposes, too, including scribing angle cuts on flooring. After ordering this tool, I did see several others that were cheaper, so there may be other options that are a better value, but this one isn’t bad.

Excellent to- It provides me with a consistent reference point for accurate marking and cutting.
Great tool that arrived in its own storage case with everything needed. The gauges hold the square at the desired angle, providing a consistent reference point for accurate marking and cutting. The tools are made to last with a good thickness and weight. It’s a durable and practical purchase for any DIY enthusiast or professional.
