Solid Hand Seamer for Clean, Precise Bends
I picked up this 18-inch hand seamer for small HVAC and roofing jobs, and it’s proven to be a solid tool. The heavy-duty steel construction gives it a sturdy feel, and the bright orange finish makes it easy to spot in a crowded toolbox or work site. The handles are comfortable to grip and provide good leverage for making bends without straining your hands. The tool gives you two fold depths (3/8″ and 1″), which is helpful for different applications. I’ve used it on aluminum panels and standard HVAC sheet metal, and it creates clean, consistent bends without slipping. At 18 inches wide, it covers a decent section of material in one pass, making it more efficient than smaller seamers. On the downside, it is fairly heavy, which is expected with this type of steel tool, and not ideal if you need something more portable. Also, the edges could be a little smoother—on thinner sheet stock you need to be careful to avoid marring if you apply too much pressure. For the price, though, this seamer is a very good value. It delivers the kind of performance you’d expect from a tool costing more at a hardware store, and it’s well-suited for HVAC techs, roofers, or DIYers who need to make reliable, clean bends in sheet metal.Pros:Heavy-duty steel build feels durable and strongTwo fold depths (3/8″ & 1″) for versatilityBright finish makes it easy to find in a toolboxCreates consistent, accurate bends in metal panelsGood value compared to professional-grade seamersCons:On the heavy side, not the most portable optionEdges can mark thinner materials if too much force is applied

    Heavy duty and works well
I needed to fix an 18ga sheetmetal flashing and this tool made the job super easy to get a perfect angle on the fitting, which had multiple different length edges. It was easy to use and the heavy weight made it very easy to control the bend. I mostly had to freehand the depth as it was a 3/4 inch depth (just drew a Sharpie line and inserted to that line and used some tape to assist in holding it there), so the site holes did not come into play, but the round holes were great for securing the tool to the edge of my workbench so I could manipulate the sheetmetal and not have to worry about handling the tool, so I could be more precise with the less deep bends. The painted surface is consistent and looks nice, and it hung horizontally on my pegboard using the round holes to distribute the weight instead of banging around in a tool drawer with its weight. Definitely recommended.

Good basic compact hand brake for hvac ducting and other sheet metal work
I’ve been meaning to get an 18″ hand brake for folding/bending sheet metal for HVAC and roofing. This one seems comparable to other generic brands. It has two depths of channels on either long side, 3/8″ and 1″ which is convenient for most bends and folds you need to make in sheet metal for field-fabricating air-handler plenums. I’ll be doing a metal panel roofing project soon as well, so I expect this to come in handy for that too.Caveats:- this is the compact style metal bender without protruding handles. This makes it fit in your bag much better, but requires more wrist strength to get your bends. I find it comfortable with lighter gauge metals–but for big roofing jobs with substantial metal you’ll probably want to add handles / buy another one.No complaints so far. Note: This is the basic type of hand brake that doesn’t have the double-thickness slot for 180 bends.

Solves and issue and does the job
This is a good basic tool. It’s well made and nicely finished. It does the job.I like making things. Most of my work is in wood, but sometimes I need to bend a piece of metal. It’s always been a problem for me to get a straight-line bend. This tool solves that issue. The tool allows me to easily get 3/8″ and 1″ bends. I like the fact that it’s orange (it shows up easily and is less likely to become misplaced or buried) and there are holes in the tool that allow it to be easily hung for storage. Although I do not use it often, I’m glad that I have it; it solves an issue I had and does the job.

    Strong metal bending tool
The 18″ long metal bending tool for 3/8″ and 1″ bends is made of heavy gauge steel suitable for bending light gauge sheet metal (steel or aluminum). It’s best used on flashing, ducting, metal roofing, etc. It takes a few tries to get the hang of getting the bends how you want them. The finish on the bender is durable and will hold up to abuse. Don’t drop it on your foot as it weights over a pound.

    Good for very thin metal
This is a nice little device to put a right angle in a piece of thin sheet metal. You get either 3/8″ OR 1″. I tried it on a piece of 0.032″ aluminum that I had lying around. It did put a bend in it, but not a clean crease. I’ll have to experiment a bit more to find out what the max thickness is. I think if you’re working on HVAC systems as intended, this will be great.
