To much slop for precision work.
To much slop for precision work. Hole sizes are to big for the m4 hardware so spacing is not exact between the points. Speaking of hardware, ever heard of nyloc nuts?! The screws were plenty long to replace the standard nuts with the locking style. So a quick trip to the hardware bin fixed that. Just screwing regular nuts on without any type of thread locker will result in a bunch of lost nuts, rendering it useless.I know the points should remain sharp but the rest of it does not need to be sharp. A little more attention to the deburring of the edges of the stainless steel would be appreciated. All of this from a 30 year welder/metal fabricator. This was purchased for quickly marking weldments for the equal spacing of stitch welds so it will be close enough for that.

Works, but sort of lightly built
This works fine; it’s accurate and reliably finds center on any piece within its range. That said, it’s very lightly built; it will require careful handling to avoid bending/distorting it during normal use. It’s also stamped, with very sharp edges; I guess that’s what the gloves are for.Good for a budget project, but not my idea of a long-term tool investment.

    Slop tolerances. Scam.
This piece of junk has such slop tolerances that it is completely useless. I can hold on end closed and the other end will stretch out over an inch further. Does the manufacturer even understand what im trying to use this tool for? I need to measure pickets evenly spaced. Look at the photo attached. For $20 id think they could at least cut there holes on these 14 pieces of sheet metal a little more precisely.Do not waste your money on this scam product.

Stainless and accurate, but has non locking nuts.
Arrived well packaged and in good shape. My first thoughts when I saw was “I sure hope those nuts are nylock locking nuts” Every pivot point has a small machine bolt and small nut. In my opinion the nuts should have been nylock locking nuts as the pivoting action causes them to become loose. The looser they get the accuracy becomes less and less. Speaking of accuracy it is accurate when tested on a tape measure. The smallest middle you can find is on 1 3/16” and the largest middle you can find is 13 1/4”. The product is made out of stainless steel, I put a magnet on it and it doesn’t stick. However the nuts and bolts are made out of steel. In conclusion I think it’s a great product if you are finding the center of things every day and don’t want to break out a tape measure. For instance pop quiz what’s the center of 3 21/32 ? yea kinda hard if you need to do the math. But this thing does make it easy. The design flaw of non locking nuts is a big one, I can easily see a nut falling off and the bolt go missing. Stainless steel is great for outdoor work, that a plus.
