Cuts like butter and peels like a tangerine
Awesome product. Very well layered and right consistency material. It cuts like butter, yet firm enough, and peels like a tangerine. I could not ask for more. Will buy more and do all my tool boxes.

Works great, even in rough terrain
I was looking for something to keep my tools organized while I ride the rough trails of the Hatfield and McCoy Trails in West Virginia. It kept my tools organized and made for easy access when needed in a hurry. I used them in a few pack out boxes. Cutting out for the tools was super easy with just a utility knife. Then you can peel off each layer to get to a depth that works for you. I plan to purchase more for my shop toolboxes.

    Good shadow boarding foam
This is good shadow boarding foam. I’ve seen several reviews for this manufacturer complaining that the layers are stuck together and that this was a problem, for me, I wish the layers were bonded together even stronger. The layers are meant to be peeled apart at the depth that you like and the adhesive the manufacturer uses allows for this if you peel the layers away properly. They actually peel nice and clean if you take your time, which leaves the surrounding layers intact, making for a really clean look. Sometimes the surrounding layers would separate and I used spray adhesive to re-bond them. I probably could have gotten away without using adhesive to re-bond the foam, as aesthetically it looked fine, but I made the fit tight and I didn’t want to risk pulling up the foam and disrupting surrounding objects every time I removed the offending object. I’d say the layers being glued 100% is a positive, not a negative, don’t be afraid. If you take your time with the initial cuts, the pieces you pull out can even have layers removed and placed back in to achieve the appropriate depth(s), so you can play around with variations, no worries. I used a little heat (be careful…) to get rid of the slight fraying and ended up with laser clean looking shadow boards and none of the poor looking torn up bottoms other people had when removing layers. The foam is also proving to be durable, so I have no doubt it will hold up well.

Quality foam. Cuts well, cleans easily and works well. The red isn’t as vibrant as listing pics.
This is good quality polyethylene shadow foam. It cuts cleanly with a sharp knife but does require patience and a little practice when hand cutting. Polyethylene foam has a bit of a sheen or shine to it which some people don’t like. It doesn’t bother me and I actually find it to be more oil resistant and easier to clean.Like anything else preparation is key. Carefully plan your layout, use sharp decent quality cutting tools and take your time. This helps eliminate costly mistakes and ensures proper fit and functionality.Your purchase gets you 4 sheets of 17″ x 12″ x 1″ thick foam. It consists of two outer black foam layers and two inner red layers secured with adhesive. I’ve found this cuts easily with sharp blades and I like how easily it peels. The bottom line is these are a great way to keep your toolbox neat and organized.PROS:+ Durable and easy to clean+ Cuts nicely+ Rigid while still being soft and cushiony .+ More resistant to fluids and chemicals than other types of shadow foam+ Having red show through for the tool cut outs is pretty handy.CONS:- The price is just under $22 for a 4 pack of 17″ x 12″ x 1″ foam. That isn’t awful but doing a big roller cabinet with this is going to get pricey.- The red is nowhere near as vibrant and intense as it looks in the listing photos. I know, I know. Colors will never match your phone screen or monitor exactly but take a look at the review photos. They give you a great idea of what it actually looks like. The real world color is a little more subdued. This isn’t a deal breaker but it is something to be aware of.Overall this is quality drawer foam and it works well.

    Nice dense foam
This tool box foam is a nice dense foam and is easy to work with. There are 4 different layers, black on the top and bottom and 2 separate red layers in the middle. It is very easy to cut with a scalpel so you can get a precise cutout that your tools will fit snugly into. The different colors make it easy to see how deep you need to cut. The foam provides good protection for delicate electronics or your favorite tools to keep them organized. It is easy to separate the different layers after cutting, just use the tip of the scalpel to get it started and it peels up. The foam is good quality and seems like it will wear well and protect your tools.
