SO much faster
I was not thinking that this would hold as well as it did. Now I wish I got one of these sooner as it would have saved me a lot of time and effort going up several trees. The biggest bonus is the quick release with that magnet that holds extremely well otherwise. A one handed push was all it took to break away to work on awkward limbs.Installation was super simple with a twig to release the pin’s last retention spring to allow it to be pushed far enough to slot out the old and slot in the new with a simple press back. Linking onto a shoulder sling or chest rig was easily to fit with a paracord and an adjustable knot.

Effortless connection
This is a great accessory for your notch rope runner. It keeps your gear properly positioned and moving with your body. Perfect implementation. I do wish it were an included item with the rope runners, but not too big a deal. worth the extra cost for the convenience.Effortless fit, flawless functionality. Looks great too. Really well-designed item. Notch makes some great equipment.

Innovation 5 stars, execution 2 stars
3 stars for the idea more than the function. I’ve used it for about 20 climbs since purchasing and the biggest issue is it often separates from the magnet whenever you’re in a position to where you’re jammed right up against your climb line, (which is quite common while ascending 80-120′ and navigating over/around limbs. I’ve never had a single climb where this didn’t separate from the magnet. Might not sound like a big deal, but if you’re knee ascender gets past waist level and your foot ascender slightly under that while this magnet separates, (because you didn’t notice immediately), all your weight is on your main ascender, making it very challenging to raise up enough to be able to connect it.On a positive note, it keeps my Rope Runner Pro perfectly aligned, so the geometry is ideal when using that ascender.I think this is a wonderful idea, but the design is lacking. Perhaps a deeper groove to better capture and keep the magneto from separating is the answer. I would not recommend this product as it is though. I’ll be removing it from my chest harness and go back to a little accessory carabiner.

Clever!
A great little bit of kit that makes your transition off of ascent really easy. The magnet is quite strong, so no need to worry about it coming undone before you want it to.My only criticism is that the anodization is a liiiiiiittle bit rough, and so you get a bit of a “nails on chalkboard” effect when the two pieces rub together. It’s a really, really minor thing. It’s a great product.
