    Works perfectly, breaks easily
6/3/2024The jig and the self-centering spring loaded bit worked perfectly. But, after tapping nine holes for shelf pegs, the self-centering spring loaded bit broke internally so that the bit would not eject to tap a hole. I finished the job with a regular drill bit. I have contacted the manufacturer Milescraft for a replacement bit. I will update this post re Milescraft’s response.6/11/2024 – Update: Today, I received a replacement bit from Milescraft at no cost for the bit or shipping.

    Awesome product
My wife got me this to retrofit a old tv entertainment center to a China cabinet as you can see from the pictures it works very well. The only thing I didn’t like was that you only get one of each size pegs to keep it straight, laying it flat down isn’t a issue but going vertical is, definitely could use 2 pegs to help keep it level. Otherwise is awesome too use and simple.

    I’d buy it again!
Worked well to add shelving into our kitchen cabinets. The drill bit did seem to break somehow. It doesn’t spring outward anymore after a few holes drilled but it’s still usable and does the job!

Nice tool for drill shelf bracket holes
This is a great tool for drilling shelf bracket holes. It comes with a drill bit that has an integral metal guide bushing and depth stop. The hole template is made from plastic but it never comes into contact with the rotating drill bit, only the non rotating guide bushing. With a single layout line all of the shelf bracket holes can be aligned and drilled in a few minutes. This tool saved me a lot of time.

Getting a new shelf pin bit free
This should be a great thing for drilling shelf pins, but not so much. While the plastic template seems ok and easy to use the same cannot be said for the retractable drill. The drill bit doesn’t smoothly move up and down in the holder. The bit gets stuck and jammed when drilling. The body of the drill holder may be poorly aligned or its a badly machined drill bit. Either way mine jammed so badly it became unusable. The bit won’t clear itself from wood chips either. Instead tried everything including disassembling and lubricant. Now the darn bit will not move in the housing at all.The holes I did drill were poor with a bunch of tear out especially in pine.I have emailed the company fora resolution and waiting of a answer.Ok update, they shipped me a new 1/4. Inch drill bit assembly. Hopefully this one will work.I am pleased that the customer support is responsive.

Be sure to use a higher power drill. Easy to use
This thing was easy to use. I built a cabinet from 3/4 s plywood and did not consider that putting holes on both sides of a center piece that they would go all the way through. But it was precise enough that they lined up perfectly and look just fine. I am able to put pins on both sides of the same hole with no issue as well, incidentally. At first I thought the bit was kind of poor. It clogged and took a while to drill and seemed wobbly. I was using a small 12 volt Milwaukee. The. I switched to an 18 volt driver. Wow, what a difference! Each hole took a split second and the waste ejected from the side holes much more consistently. Very happy after that adjustment.

The drill bit clogs, the bit is IMPOSSIBLE to get together if you take it apart
NO INSTRUCTIONS!! Had to go to the website to find them.I got through about 10 holes when the bit clogged up like other people said theirs did as well, even though I was tapping out the wood bits in between drilling the holes. The drill bit would not recede back into the unit so I tried to loosen the set screw to see if I could pull the bit out a little bit to try to find what was jammed in there. I loosened it a little too far and everything came apart. Even though there are specific instructions on the website on how to reassemble this part, it took over an hour and a half, included vice grips and needle nose, pliers to get everything to line up again. This is going back! Save your money (and time) and get something that works better. The jig itself is great, but useless without a good bit piece.

La plantilla aunque de plastico, es en general buena, pero la broca en el paquete es de 1/4 pulgadas y agujeros que produce no sirven en muebles de estandar europeo – 5mm.
