Quality Heavy Duty Tool that is Easy to Use.
Nice Heavy Duty Tool. Plenty of Grommets supplied with kit. I have used the 3/8 so far and the tool is easy to use and Grommets attach securely. In the past I have used manual type systems which require 2 hands and a hammer on a flat surface and are difficult to use. This tool works with one hand as the magnets hold the Grommets in place and punch the hole thru the tarp and I was able to work sideways and overhead without issue. Very satisfied with the purchase.

Great tool
We needed tie down holes in canvas, plastic and thin vinyl for Halloween decorations. This tool worked great for all types of material. And very easy to use, in the high wind none of the grommets pulled out of the decorations. The picture is hard to see but we used it on the white and black material.

Great tool and concept.
High quality, easy concept once you learn from a few failed attempts. The magnets that holds the grommets in place are genius. This is effective for the edge of applications, tarps, tents, hunting blinds. Easier than the old tap/hammer method I had been using.

Nice tool, punches could be better.
The tool itself is great. It’s easy to squeeze, works really well, the dies are easy to change, and it being magnetic makes it really easy to hold the grommets in place without fighting. The manual says there are two allen wrenches, one for each die half, but the tool itself has been improved since then with a set screw for the bottom half and no allen wrench. This is much better, though at first glance, it looks like there’s a tool missing since it only came with one until you look at the tool and see the screw. I don’t know that a screw could replace the need for the wrench on the top half, but if it could, that would be fab. I think not, though, because it needs to be tightened down and then it’s too hard to loosen to change by hand. Regardless, I am pleased with the tool and wish I had it two months ago when I had to run a bunch of grommets on fabric to make makeshift curtains. The grommets are pretty standard, all silver, good sizes, and I like that they’re packed with the two pieces separately from each other for ease of counting out.The anvils included work well to protect your surface from damage when punching the holes in your leather or fabric, but the punches themselves leave a good bit to be desired. They are not sharp at all. I tried two of the three sizes and both were frustratingly dull, resulting in a lot of noise disturbing other household members, a much longer time than it should have taken to get a simple job done, and eventually taking scissors to cut the last remnants the punches wouldn’t go through. It took me almost as long to punch 16 holes of two sizes as it took for me to measure and cut eight strips of leather and make four of those into loops. I had the item delivered to where I am staying, which is not at my house. I have punches at my house that have gone through 6-8 oz water buffalo hide with no problems and they’re not really expensive or brand name ones, so it’s not a ‘get what you pay for’ situation. These are just dull. We tried to sharpen the worst one but it didn’t do much good.If you’re buying this for the tool and grommets, it’s great.

Keeps it in Place!
It works magic and removable parts for different distance from the edge of whatever you are trying to secure. Great quality and lots of rings for your projects..

Simple and efficient.
I have used this tool exhaustively. It is fast, and simple to use. Changing out the tooling for the 3 different size of grommets is easy and fast. The tool handles all three sizes equally as well. I am very satisfied and happy I chose this kit out of the many available.

Making the hole is the hard part
This tool creates three different sizes of grommets. I bought this because I must tighten shoe laces so tight that the shoe can tear at the highest eyelet. The tool works well once you create the hole. But creating the hole was the challenge — a small tool is provided to create the hole. You use a hammer and whack the thing. But no matter how hard I whacked, the shoe won the battle. I tried other means, all failed except finally I resorted to using a drill. This created a hole, but it also tore fabric away from that area. My wife trimmed the hole with small scissors. Finally we developed a hole (minus some fabric) that could be used to insert the grommet. That was the easy part. If you can figure out how to develop a hole the right size, this is an excellent tool.

Grommet Tool – SkipThe 1/2″ Grommets
The product is useful in that you can easily install a grommet on an item in place, as opposed to a bench mounted type. It requires careful placement, you must ensure the fabric is pulled smooth and flat, or else a wrinkle will form and the fabric will ultimately tear at that point. In my opinion, the jaws do not open wide enough. I have only used the 3/8″ dies thus far, they work well enough, but the dies for the 1/2″ grommets barely fit because the jaws do not open wide enough, I haven’t tried to install a 1/2″ grommet, I not sure there is enough space between the dies to get the tool in place to install a grommet. The part of the grommet that is crimped to the the washer fouls on the die that holds the washer. So, if a 1/2″ grommet isn’t required, then the tool is ok. It is light, and punches a clean hole, at least in the fabric I installed it in. I have a windshield cover for an old p/u truck I own, it mostly sits and gathers leaves, I needed to secure it more effectively with tie downs, and extra grommets were the answer. I suppose that overall, it isn’t expensive, works ok, is portable…maybe my expectations were too high? The one they sell with only 3/8″ grommets might be a better choice.

Handy tool! I don’t know what I did without it!! Works fantastic!

I thought it was going to be difficult to squeeze the tool but it is very easy. The grommets can cut through quite thick leather. Sets perfect grommets as long as it cuts through the material and it comes with the correct size punches for thicker materials!

Needed to add grommets to a 16 mil tarp I bought. The tool worked great. I did need to cut a small hole before I used it but it did the job perfectly. I also used it on an extra thick plastic tarp, without putting holes first, and it cut right through it, no problem. I then tried it on some nylon webbing and once again cut through it great. The grommets seem to be good quality. Overall, delighted I decided to buy this.

Totally love this and it was extremely easy to use.

This did the job. It was easy to use. I used it on felt material. Don’t know how well it will work with thinner material. No regret buying this tool. They give you lots of grommets.
