Very Accurate and Easy to Read – My New Go-To Tape
As a novice to intermediate woodworker and DIYer, I came across a couple of recommendations for FastCap tape measures. Needless to say, this is now my go-to tape.Pros: It’s inexpensive and high-quality. It was half the price of the “team red” tape I had prior. It is very easy to read, has markings down to 16ths, and this particular model (lefty/righty) makes it easy to read those marks on both sides of the tape. Accuracy is fantastic and the green color is very easy to see/find. Seems to be very durable and isn’t overly heavy and could fit comfortably in a pocket if needed. This may sound simplistic, but this is so easy to get back on my belt and stays very secure. Lastly, and probably my favorite feature, is the lack of slop on the hook. The “team red” tape had about 1/8″ to 3/16″ play when hooked, but the FastCap has little to none. Love that!Cons: None. Love it!Would highly recommend, and I will continue to purchase FastCap in the future and recommend to family and friends. Already got my kids one each and they love them!

The perfect finish carpenter tape measure with great markings and useful features.
I’ve been lugging around a cumbersome, fat, 25ft tape measure for finish work, and realized I rarely need any measurement over 16ft for finish work. Then I found this little guy at the recommendation from some finish carpenters. It’s great! It has every 16th measured out in its common measurement (1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, etc.). I don’t really need that due to years of conditioning reading a tape measure, but I find it oddly nice to have there. There’s a writing surface which is handy for recording measurements, and even a pencil sharpener. I use a Pica-Dry, so have no need for this, but in a pinch I could see how it would come in handy. I did try it out and it didn’t seem to be the most ideal sharpener. The stop action is nice. There’s a quick hold-down stop, as well as a locking stop. The retraction coil on the tape measure is quite strong, so be careful letting it fly back into the base. Don’t let the cheap price fool you. It’s awesome.

    An excellent value
There is a ton to like with this tape measure. A ton. As a lefty, it’s awesome to have a tape measure that does not have upside down numbers for me. I like having the 1/8 markers spelled out. The standout is surprisingly good. It’s north of 9 feet. The tape deploys and retracts smoothly. I love the little tape/hold button. It works great and requires very little pressure. The addition of a writing surface is very handy although I’m curious how well you can erase. Not sure if you should only use a pencil. The pencil sharpener is handy but not something that I need. The price is also amazing. I can’t believe how affordable it is. My only gripe is that the feet markings are not particularly legible. They are barely there and do not stand out at all. It almost caused me to drop a star from my review.

Nearly perfect, with one small “but”
What makes this tape really good and for some reason nobody else copy them is the fact that they add all fractions on the table, and on both sides! You have all details from 2/16 to 15/16, which makes your life in the US so much easier when measuring this crazy American fractional system haha! It becomes so easy to use! Honestly this tape made me learn fractions in such way that today I’m more comfortable with fractions than with millimeter. The white tape color is unique, also rarely see that around. Size is compact and tape is protected with a layer of robber, which makes it drop resistant. The accuracy is pristine, as mentioned above, you are not doing math to know where is 5/8, or 13/16. for the price is the number of benefits, totally recommended! There is one negative aspect of this 16′ version here: The body length of the 25′ model is 3″ long, confirmed, but the body length of the 16′ is actually 2 3/4″, but it’s written 3 feet on it, small flaw.

daily drive at work – making big red/yellow brand look pretty bad
I use it many dozens of times a day and it works great and it’s easy to read the markings. Took me 3 brands to find one I like. Handbrake is great. Be careful extending it past 100%: it likes to lock up and you have to fiddle with it to get it to start spooling again. But it goes back and works great every time.I like the roundness of the shell. Edges of the tape is pretty dull glad they paid attention to that.Tip is a little loosey goosey but not totally cheap. Almost like the rivets need to be set it deeper.Clip for belt/pocket works great and it super easy to use, most other brands screw this up.Making big red/yellow brand look pretty bad rn.

    Great while it lasts
Bought for metal shop (welding) and reading the tape is great, but the blade is flimsier than standard. The thinness could be an asset (such as in how fast it retracts) but is definitely a liability for the tape measure’s longevity.I treated the tape like any of my others and after a few weeks the blade got bent around the 2” mark. Did I do something to bend it? Surely. But nothing egregious.A great tape depending on what you need it for and how you treat it.

This is hands down the best measuring tape I’ve ever used! The reverse design makes reading measurements incredibly intuitive, especially in tight spots. It feels solid and well-made, with markings that are easy to read and don’t fade. The built-in FastPad for writing notes is a genius touch, I use it ALL of the time with a mechanical pencil. I reach for it on every project because it makes my work so much easier.

Best tape measure in the business. Pencil sharpener, white circle on the side to jot measurements down.Various models to suit your needs. Green with 1/16th markings (imperial), yellow with metric and imperial, white is a flexible tape in imperial for arches.A finger brake to stop tape retraction and damaging the end stop.Just keep care of it.
