This is better than anything the box stores carry! Highly recommend

Accurate. Not as heavy-duty as steel but strong enough. May not stand up to abuse over time, though.
The reason for the statement in the title questioning the durability of these is because the parts except for the ruler are made of a metal (aluminum alloy, according to the product description) that was easily scratched when I was cutting off the zip tie on the square head and nicked it. It is a very minor scratch, but I have to wonder how they’ll hold up in a not-so-gentle setting such as a wood shop.Anyhow, both the speed square and combo square are very accurate. I measured the accuracy using two different digital angle finders, as well as physically putting them up against my trusted squares. The combo square’s knob to secure the ruler is very sturdy and didn’t move at all when tightened. The speed square has an interesting design I’ve never seen before. Aside from having the standard speed square features such as drawing right angles, other uncommon angles, parallel lines, ruler, etc., its fence (blue part) can be separated from the body by removing the four hex screws. I don’t know in what instance this would be helpful. Maybe to be able to use the entirety of the body of the square? I have no idea because it isn’t explained in the manual and a Google search turned up nothing. The inclusion of the 2.8mm carpenter pencil is a nice addition, I suppose, if you’re into those. I personally dislike them so its inclusion in this set is not important to me.Overall, I really like this set. I just wonder how long they’ll last due to being made of aluminum.

A beautiful, accurate square set!
Firstly, these squares are very well crafted. I found not a single manufacturing mark on them. The speed square is heavy in the hand, more than I’m accustomed to for a speed square, but it actually makes it feel better. I was intrigued by the removable shoulder allowing this square to be used for flatwork and layout, and after putting the shoulder back on the body it lined up perfectly 90* again, very impressive! The speed square and combination square are right on 90* and 45* when compared to my shop square that I know is dead accurate. Putting them together they lock into each other, not a hair of play between them! This is going to become my new shop square, it’s just so nice and comfortable in my hand that I don’t want to take it out for field work. This is the 3rd tool I’ve reviewed for this company and they are all 5* so far. Seems like they are trying to build a reputation. Well it’s working, I’ve been a carpenter for 12+ years and I know my way around these kinds of tools. It has all the usual notches for marking rip cuts and rafters but it also has the step notches which I think will be more useful for flatwork. You will love this speed square. The combination square feels solid, locks nicely and the ruler is accurate and straight. The bubble level inside the body is accurate as well.A very nice set of squares for the shop!

Not completely perfect, but may as well be for the price.
This set of measuring tools is a great kit to have. The rafter and combination squares are sturdy metal, well marked, and durable, and the marking pencil is a nice addition.Combination square:The rule says STAINLESS HARDENED on it but it is very magnetic so I am doubtful. It also has quite sharp edges, perhaps good to have but I’d rather it get stoned down a tad. The square itself is anodized aluminum and has beveled edges so as to not cut you like the rule might. It slides well but not extraordinarily smoothly, and the locking nut is large and holds it firm. The scriber is small and a bit fiddly to hold, but does its job.Time will tell if the markings hold up, but they seem durable. They are etched out of the anodized coating right back to the bare aluminum, so it’s not as if it’s just a paint that will rub off or be wiped off when struck by stray solvent.Rafter square:This is a two-piece construction made entirely of aluminum (aside from the screws holding the two pieces together). The main features on the main face are stamped from 4mm stock which left a telltale depression from the die. For the purposes of the tool this does not hinder it any, but I thought it was worth a mention given how the listing touts that it is CNC-machined. I do believe the main triangular shape is, however.Nitpicking aside, this square has all of your typical rafter square functions, as well as a nice offset-toothed section for easily marking from a 3/4″ to 5 1/4″ range in 1/8″ increments and another stepped guide for use in both axes.Pencil:This is a bit of a mixed bag. It’s a very nice 2.8mm carpenter’s lead holder, so it should be resilient to breaking, and the included sharpener is very welcome. The build of the pencil itself gives me pause, however, as it is a quite complex 11-part unit (at least) including spring and brass collet to hold the graphite fast, but the rear feed button doesn’t really move the lead very far, and sometimes not at all. In the end, it performs its primary job very well, and is easy enough to use so long as you don’t try and dismantle it like I was foolish enough to do. Just gently pull the back off to replace the lead, and twist it to reveal the sharpener. Conclusion:With a few extra finishing touches this would be a great kit at twice the listed price. As it stands, it’s still a great value and handy addition to the home shop.
